Spring Break cont...

Ok, I had some technical difficulties in my last post, so I am continuing in a new one. The last cool thing that we did was to visit Pearl Harbor. The memorial is nice. But the most interesting part was our ride over. We sat in the front row right where the navy ship captain was driving the boat. We just happened to glance over the various buttons and controls and this is what we saw...
Lots of switches for different alarms and lites...panel lite, nav lite, search lite...and check the one on the right side 5th one down...

So of course, Calvin had to ask, "does this ship really dispense Bud lite?"

Anyhoot, that was my trip. Lots of rain, but still entertaining!

Spring break

It's a bit late, but here's a quick recap of my spring break. I went to Hawaii for the second time. This time unfortunately the weather sucked big time!! It rained for maybe 6 out of the 8 days we were there. We ended up watching alot of MTV in the hotel room instead. But we did get to do some cool things. We saw the world's largest rubber ducky race.

We also went on this "EXTREME Fishing Adventure" that ended up being not so extreme. The boat took us out to an area where we could snorkle, cept the problem was...there was nothing to see in that area. Not even a single fish. This did not bode well since the boat trip was also a fishing trip as well. Calvin has a major case of shark phobia so he refused to get into the water for the first 15 min. Finally, we convinced him that there was no shark the water, let alone any fish, so he jumped in and paddled around for a bit. Then the boat took us to another spot where we could fish for 20 min. 20 min passed by and not even one out of the 9 people there on the boat caught any fish. We then went to another spot, and spent another 30 min.... no fish. Finally, we went to the last spot...which was the "lucky" spot. We waited and waited with our fish hooks dangling in the water....finally, my friend felt a nibble and pulled up his line to find that the fish had bitten through the line and stole the hook! At this point, we're wondering what kind of fish this is...and whether or not we really wanted to catch it. My friend rehooked and dropped his line again. A few minutes later, he felt another tug, and this time he was successful in catching this...

That at least made the trip sort of worthwhile. Finally, we were supposed to have a bbq on the boat, but the grill broke down, and the tour guide took us to McDonald's instead... So much for our EXTREME fishing adventure.

in the bay. the south south south (mission) bay.

this past saturday, alice chen and i got to meet up in san diego. we went to a beach in mission bay with a bunch of other people from work. i went jet skiing and got a bit wet, as you can see from my shirt.

after hanging out at the beach the entire afternoon, we headed back to meet up with alice's brother, samson, and her mother. on the way there, we thought we were honked at by this SUV being driven by self proclaimed a MILF. according to the sticker on the left side of her rear windshield, she has a son and a daughter and is quite curvaceous. i'm not sure what "girlmom" is supposed to signify though. perhaps it suggests that she is still young?
anyway, it turned out that it wasn't the MILF who was honking at us, it was the guy driving right behind the MILF. apparently he wanted to take a gander at the MILF. his car edged closer and closer to the lane we were in. as the traffic started moving again, he then proceeded to cut us off and raced alongside the SUV to check out the mother driving.

we all went out to eat dinner at todai. todai is a japanese buffet. i got two lobsters, but alice beat me and got three. she even gets lobsters without trying/wanting any! here is a picture of us all:

after dinner, we went back to samson's apartment and put together a 750 piece puzzle!
to be fair, i should note that most of the puzzle had already been completed by the time i got there. but i did help!

in spite of the fact that we both brought sun block to the beach, neither of us decided to actually use any of it. pretty smart eh? check out alice chen's sun burn lines:

of course, i had my own as well:
pretty fun weekend huh?
